Thank you for being here.
I’ve put together some of my favorite blog posts for you below.
They’re a great way to learn more about how I think and work.
Benefits of Routines & How to Start
The recent outbreak of COVID-19 has many more people inside and living life differently from their normal routines. This isn’t true for everyone, but it certainly got me thinking about the role of routines in our lives. I am lucky that I already work from a home office and my routines are able to stay relatively normal most days, but even with that being said I have found myself re-examining my routines and putting a greater emphasis on self-care. One way of looking at this global pandemic-- if you are in a position of now being homebound -- is that it is an opportunity to focus inwards and on being instead of doing. Routines focused on self-care, reflection, and connection may aid you in that process.
Increasing Self-Awareness and Emotional Well-Being in Regards to Social Media
This is a chance to reflect on the nuances of how you interact with social media, the impacts those interactions have on your emotional well being, and how to feel the greatest sense of agency in your social media use. I certainly do not believe that social media is either all “good” or all “bad.” I absolutely believe that it is a great idea to pause and check in within yourself just as we check in during our sessions about things like sleep and how you’re feeling in your most intimate relationships.
Podcasts, Books, and Instagram Accounts Related to Health at Every Size
You may have seen in my profile that I operate from a Health at Every Size informed framework (HAES) and thought, “what is that?” or maybe it is part of what drew you to my profile! The short explanation is that I operate from a weight neutral standpoint, but am anything but neutral when it comes to speaking out against weight and size discrimination. This means that I don’t care how much you weigh, but I care about the ways that living in a fat phobic world have impacted you. I care about your relationship to food and your relationship to your body -- not what your body looks like or the content of what you are eating. No matter what size, shape, gender, or race you are, you are worthy of dignity, respect, and care. As simple as this core principle is, the world of HAES is beautifully diverse and nuanced.
